The “rotating snakes” are a creation of Peripheral Drift…… nothing is actually moving, just an optical illusion….

From one of my heros

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time… We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, sta y up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve added years to life not life to years. We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We’ve done larger things, but not better things.

We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer,to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete…

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn’t cost a cent.

Remember, to say, ‘I love you’ to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Digi Dare #44

I think i may have completely forgotten to post this a while back, but i was picked to be one of the new darers over at The Digi Dares .com!!!

It’s been so much fun workin w/ the team, they are all the sweetest and great scrappers to boot! ;) And the dares have really helped inspire some great scrapping…..i really need a kick in the pants sometimes, since I’m usually designing and not scrapping nearly enough anymore!

This week is Dare #44 dreamed up by Brittany Farrer…. here are the details:

Digi-Dare #44

This week I am daring you to face your darkest enemy: fashion!

UNFASHIONABLY YOU: C’mon, be honest. What do you wear, do to your hair, etc., that is just a fashion faux paux? Do you wear your jammies and fuzzy slippers when you drop your kids off at school? Is there a scrunchie that you’ve had (and use regularly) since 1984 that you can’t let go of? Has it been 10 years since you bought a new pair of jeans? Do you still dress like a Spice Girl? Have you been hooked on the ‘Rachel’ haircut since 1995?

DARE FLAIR:
-Use one picture multiple times
-Be brutally honest (c’mon…you know you want to…)
-Have a smile on your face as you complete the LO (we’ll use the honor system for this one)
-Use a ribbon somewhere on your LO

—————

FUN right?!?!?!? Then go over to www.thedigidares.com come and come play!
***Each week you can win $40 worth of coupons/digi goodies for playing!!!***

Here’s my layout:

credits: frame & tape by nicole pols (the digi shoppe), newsprint paper by poppy andrews, background paper - ledger paper by meredith fenwick (scrapbookgraphics) blended with a paper by poppy andrews (recolored), stamped alpha, ribbon corners by michelle coleman (little dreamer designs), chip alpha & dotted journaling block by audrey neal (oscraps), arrows & glitter hoop by lauren reid (scrapartist)

journaling: yes, it’s true, the girl who wears flip flops 95% of the year is most often spotted with THESE ratty looking toe nails! Purty, huh?!

Life & Loss

What a 360 week it’s been….

My great grandfather passed away on Monday at the age of 95….
so sad, but he lived a long good life, so i can make sense of that.

My neighbor was killed on Wednesday during life fire excercises (he was in the army) at the age of 19…
Nineteen, a twin, a brother, a son, a child…..taken long before his time…..i just can’t make sense of this at all…

Then a special glimpse of hope….

Miss. Emily Margaret entered the world early this morning to my dear friend!

Life is fragile…..Life is short….Life continues & changes whether we are prepared for it or not.

Hug your loved ones extra tight today for me….

I’m off to figure how to make this knot in my stomach go away….

Some Inspiration

Are your children insane, or is it just mine?! I’m pretty sure that we need a padded room installed in our house….there’s something just a little wild about 5 year old twin BOYS! Although, quite frankly, our 2 yr old DD is just as nutty, guess that’s what happens when you have big brothers, right?!?! hee hee

Onto the inspiration….
Here are a few los my CT made with some of my recent Funky Playground goodies! Hope it helps get your mojo flowin’!

Have a wonderful weekend and keep those crazy kids under control! ;)

Oh and ps…i think a little contest is a brewin………
