It’s with a heavy heart that I tell you that we lost a kind & compassionate friend, mother, wife, daughter, digi-designer today….

Carla Gibson passed away this morning after a week long struggle in the hospital following a brain aneurism last Friday.

George and Taylor…..I wish you the strength to deal with the loss of such an important person to you both. Know that she is looking down on you and showering you with love and hoping that her memory will help get you through the days to come.

Carla you will be deeply missed…..

Prayers to Carla Gibson

Friday morning, Carla Gibson, an Oscraps designer, suffered a brain aneurisym.  Carla underwent surgery Saturday morning to stop the bleeding and install coils.  The doctors are keeping her sedated for the most part, but Carla was able to tell her family she loved them and hear those words from them in return, on Sunday.  Each day is a new day and she is and will continue to experience ups and downs in the recovery process.  There is no official prognosis at this time.

Thank you again for your continued support and hugs….I’ve received so many kind words and advice on grieving…. and heard lots of personal stories of loss… So i’m sending YOU ALL hugs too!

I don’t want to start your day off on a sad note, but i just had to share this photo…this is the front area of our neighborhood just after Kevin’s funeral….there were tons of flowers and the flag at half mast………today a week and a day after the service, it remains the same….. the flowers are soggy now, but the flag hanging low definately is appropriate………..

 

a heart is a hard thing to mend, isn’t it? Hug those you love tight and be sure to tell them NOW how much you love them because tomorrow comes too quickly!

How do you grieve?

 How to you cope w/ loss?

I’m having SUCH a hard time dealing w/ the loss of Kevin…
For those who may not know, Kevin was my neighbor who died last Wednesday during live fire training down in Fort Campbell. He was due to leave for Iraq this Summer.

Kevin was just a baby….only 19 years old….say some extra prayers for his mom, twin brother, sister and younger brother if you are the praying kind.

Tonight is his wake…tomorrow the funeral….

It just makes no sense to me….and all i can do is cry….i hate not being able to help or fix anything….i have no desire or mojo to design… i just don’t know what to do….

how do you move on during such heart wrenching times?….

Bunny Time!

In the DARK!

I THINK i went to bed at around 8:30pm last night. 8:30….. I can’t remember the last time that happened! There was some sort of electrical issue in our neighborhood on Friday, but they didn’t end up working on our section of the neighborhood til late afternoon, when all of the sudden our electricity went out. Fine, no big deal…..but then it got later and later….no lights. Got the boys to bed……got the baby to bed…. still no lights…. DH and I are now hanging out in the pitch dark….and I decided, well i guess i’ll just go to bed! DH said the lights didn’t come back on til about 9:30 or 10pm!

Did i mention that it was also his bday and I had made homemade ice cream cake?!?!?! I’m scared to look in the freezer at what’s left of it!

Blue Goo

If you have kids (or even if you don’t), you HAVE to try this recipe out! It makes this “Blue Goo” concoction that’s for playing with NOT eating! I use to make it all the time when I taught Kindergarten and the boys found a little booklet w/ the recipe, so we made some the other day. The had a blast!

Blue Goo:
1 box Cornstarch (16oz)
1 1/2 c. water (approximately)
food coloring (we used 15 drops of blue)

Mix it up well in a bowl, put your kids in their PLAY clothes that you don’t care about (the food coloring could stain), put a play tablecloth on your table…and DIG IN!

The goo is neat because it acts like both a liquid and solid. It looks like a liquid (kinda like pancake batter) but then if you squeeze it it turns to a solid!!!

Tip: the following day it will be all solid because the liquid evaporates, just add more water, stir and play again!
