I’m loving our CT’s fun new twist on the “You Rock” feature. What’s better about finding great layouts than getting to play around with them yourself?

This week, we were all drawn to Sue’s “Jack’s First Birthday” layout featuring Little Dreamer Designs’ fun Hullaballo birthday kit. You can check out Sue’s entire LDD gallery : here :

I have been sorely lacking in the Mojo department lately. So what do you do when you can’t create? You shop!

My second baby is due in about 6 weeks so I have been browsing all things baby lately. I am having my second boy and trying to think outside the box in terms of baby stuff since I really can’t justify too many new clothing purchases. I also happen to be drawn to very bright colours and patterns at the moment so I thought I would bring you a little bit of mojo inspired by all things baby. Whether it be the colours, the patterns or the desire to do a little online shopping yourself, I hope these items will provide you with some inspiration to get the week started.

Built NY is a company that makes insulated carriers from neoprene. They started with wine carriers and have since moved onto baby gear - which is perfectly in synch with the direction my life has taken. :) Here are some cute things from their site.

Laptop Case

OK - maybe that last one is for the working mummy, rather than the baby. :)

I should also mention that Amazon has a 4 for the price of 3 special on the BuiltNY Totes right now. Since there are soon going to be four of us it felt like Kismet - so I bought new lunch bags for the whole family.

OK - off to add some more to my Kaboodle list. Happy (Ahem!) browsing.

It’s friday again, and it means highlighting one of your LO using Lauren’s great designs!

I was browsing the galleries, and i stumbled across this LO by Cherpea, “My girl and Me”.

She mostly used Lauren’s kit New Zealand Naturals (we spoke about it a few posts earlier), and Lauren’s Sketchy alpha. I really love the design of her page : the black background, the bracket, the frame (i love this one !), the ribbon beneath the photo. I love how she placed the flowers to enhance her photo. This LO is really sweet. I love how she made the title alternating gold color and white. It’s really gorgeous!

Barb here with a big Happy April greetings to all of you out there!

In today’s Product Spotlight, i’d like to showcase my favorite alphabet of Lauren’s….the Sketchy Alpha! You can see it here:

What you can’t really see from the preview is how the white part of the letter are semi-transparent. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used this alphabet for all sorts of different kinds of layouts. I’ve even used it on birthday cards. I just love how cool it is, and how it looks hand drawn.

Here is one of my layouts that where I “Got Sketchy Widdit”. I always like to change the sizes of the letters to kick the fun up a notch. I would give you more layouts, but sadly, I recently had an accident with my external hard drive and lost all of my digital layouts. I’m still in mourning.

Here are some others that I found out there on the Little Dreamer Gallery.

Today I preregistered my youngest daughter for Kindergarten. It’s definitely bittersweet, I’m finding myself feeling a tad emotional. I’m proud and excited for her but also mourning the time that is going by too quickly. I thought this little sentimental moment was a good excuse for some enabling. I stumbled across something recently and I want one or two of these for myself.

A cute charm you say? Why it sure is. But wait! The best part…it’s a doodle turned charm. That’s right, you can doodle your own or have your kiddo create a masterpiece. Presto! It’s a wearable keepsake. Too fab and an awesome gift idea for Mother’s Day. I want one from each of my girls and one of my own hand….well I can put them on the list anyway. They can be found at Mommy Tags and information on the doodle tags specifically can be found Here

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes when Lauren dreams up one of her fabulous kits? What inspires her? What her design process is? Well, today we’re going to go behind the scenes and see how Lauren created New Zealand Naturals, a kit created especially for Cheryl Peacock aka cherpea - the lucky winner of Lauren’s second “You Design It” custom-kit contest.

New Zealand Naturals is a gorgeous kit that was inspired by the great outdoors of New Zealand (where Cheryl lives with her husband Chris and two daughters, Anya and Dannielle). It has muted tones and rich textures reminiscent of the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand where Cheryl recently vacationed with her family.

“The West Coast is the exact opposite of what we see as part of our everyday,” explains Cheryl. “It’s certainly a lot wetter there…[and] a whole lot greener, especially noticeable in summer when we are often caught in drought like conditions and the Coast is still lovely and green.”

Working with photos sent by Cheryl as well as Cheryl’s detailed input on colors and textures, Lauren conjured up papers of greens, blacks and browns that have a little more than meet the eye.

Cheryl says that the black paper is a perfect example.

“I wanted a black paper that resembled a night sky away from city lights, the kind where you walk out into it and are surrounded by blackness but that when you are out in it for a bit takes on a whole new perspective, offering up patches of lightness. Tell me that Lauren didn’t hit the nail on the head there!”

As for elements, Cheryl requested “earthy, roughed up almost masculine elements.” Again, Lauren came through in spades, even suggesting a couple of additions that Cheryl says “simply work brilliantly with what [she] had envisioned.”

As you can tell, Cheryl was blown away by the kit Lauren created and calls it a “must-have” for every single digi scrapper.

“It’s just so very versatile, I have used it for all sorts of different pages from photos of my daughters to all about me pages to travel pages.”

One of her favorite layouts using New Zealand Naturals is “Dance” a simple yet beautiful page about her daughter Anya’s first dance recital. Much like the papers Lauren has designed, there is more than meets the eye.

“Take your time looking at it,” says Cheryl. “When you first view it, it’s kinda like walking out of your house into a dark night where everything seems so very black and dark, but give it a chance and you will see all the amazing textures Lauren worked into this paper.  You just need to give your eyes a chance to see it.”

And take a look at some pages created by Lauren’s CT used New Zealand Naturals:
